In the not-so-distant future, a plague is spreading across the earth very rapidly. This plague kills within 24 hours, and will take your last, tortured breath. But there's a catch. This virus only kills men, leaving women unaffected. In 2097, Kellen is one of the only men on Earth. With 99% of the male population destroyed, the women rule and Earth is a perfect Utopia. People ride mostly on bicycles, and if they ride in cars, the cars make noises to alert the people around it and they are eco-friendly.

Kellen and his two new classmates, Septimbre (Tia) and Sunday, discover that the virus that killed almost all the men on Earth is about to spread again. But something about an old woman in the place where Kellen lives isn't right. Pretty soon, Kellen and his new friends are on a mission to uncover the virus' secrets, find his dad, and help save the men of Earth. As the virus spreads, they learn something that will change their lives forever. Anything can happen on an Earth that has a cemetery called Epitaph Road...

I read this book in a program called Cavalcade of Authors and was engrossed from the first page. There were some dry parts at the beginning, but the book intensified when I got into it, as it builds suspense.

My favorite part was the descriptiveness. To be perfectly honest, I actually crashed into a few things while reading it and walking.

Epitaph Road is by David Patneaude, who wrote the highly-praised books Someone Was Watching and Haunting at Home Plate. This is one of his newer books and, in my opinion, one of the best books he's ever written. With a detailed plot, no plot holes, and humor and suspense at every turn, this book is sure to entertain you and keep you up for just "one more chapter."

This book would be perfect for those not sure what to read. It would also be perfect for someone who loves book about a perfect future, which is not nearly as perfect as its outer shell depicts.

I would rate this book, on a 1 to 10 scale, an 8 1/2, because it is dry in some areas, such as the beginning and some parts in the middle. But, overall, this book is a very good book. Actually, it's excellent! It is a good, semi-short read and a nice little book with a suspenseful plot that kept me up at night before I finished it, thinking who could be behind the virus, how, or what? All in all, this book is something I recommend, but not my favorite book ever.
